Abstract
The logistics of activity on Jan Mayen are firstly governed by the challenges involved in getting to and from the island, and secondly by the natural conditions on the island. The climate and difficult weather conditions, combined with the lava sand and rock basis of the island can cause problems it is necessary to be aware of before engaging in field work and research there.
