Curvilinear Regression

Summary

Figure 1 upper graph shows a plot of data suggesting a curvilinear rather than linear relationship between the x- and y-values. Polynomial regression analysis or Fourier analysis can be used to study these data. Polynomial analysis is an extension of simple linear regression, where a model is used to allow for the existence of other kinds of systematic dependence of the independent y variable (blood presure) on the dependent x variable (time).
