Dichiaravano di avere estratto il DNA dallo scheletro dell’Uomo di Mungo, che era stato appena ridatato intorno a 62000 anni fa. Si trattava, affermavano, del DNA più antico mai estratto da un essere umano: il principale concorrente era un Neanderthal croato, più giovane di 20000 anni.
