Abstract
The adaptation of optimisation techniques in age-specific harvesting to populations whose life-histories may evolve as a result of harvesting was introduced in Law and Grey (1989). It was found possible to obtain optimal patterns which are more complex than the well-known two-age-class pattern for models without evolution. Here a more general model is proposed and an algorithm described for finding the solution to the optimality problem where density-dependent regulation and competition between phenotypes are both present.
