Abstract
The Internet with its new communication possibilities has developed into one of the driving forces behind technical and cultural advancement in the 21st century. This volume has primarily focused on the technology of internetworking as the foundation of the global Internet, its influence in the past years on how we communicate with each other and, consequently, how our daily life has changed from the ground up. The other two volumes in this series, “Digital Communication” and “Web Technologies” round out the spectrum of topics. The historical development and technical foundations of digital communication is described in detail as well as the World Wide Web and associated technologies built on the foundation of the Internet.
