Abstract

This chapter offers detailed information about presently known mesenchymal skin tumors. Recently described entities are discussed. The fibrohistiocytic tumors are followed by the vascular tumors, the tumors with smooth muscle cell differentiation, the neural tumors, the lipomatous tumors, the tumors with meningeal differentiation, the tumors with osseous differentiation and a few other entities of less well defined origin. The differences in prognostic outcome of the mesenchymal tumors in skin and their counterparts in the deep soft tissue are being evaluated. Some general rules for the appraisal of mesenchymal tumors in skin are given. Description of the clinical picture and prognosis for every entity is added. ICD-O numbers are named as far as possible also for the rarer entities.
