Christopher Peacocke raises in his perceptive and lucid comments several issues which are vital to the evaluation of game-theoretical semantics as a general approach to logical and linguistic semantics and also to the evaluation of some of its specific applications to logico-linguistic problems. I am greatly indebted to him for this chance to clarify what I have said earlier of game-theoretical semantics and of its uses. Both his critical comments and his alternative suggestions serve to illuminate my semantical theory indirectly, through the reflected light of the replies that can be made to them.
