Abstract
The purpose of this chapter is to provide a brief review of selected principles of microscopy and an overview of contemporary imaging methods, with an emphasis on fluorescence techniques used in biomedical research in general and cancer research in particular. For additional information, the reader is referred to the end of the chapter for a short list of excellent references and web sites that provide useful information.
