"This collection contains selected papers from the 20th International Symposium on Separation Sciences (ISSS) held in Prague from August 30 to September 2, 2014. The International Symposia on Separation Sciences have been organized regularly once a year since 1990 in one of the member countries of the Central European Group of Separation Sciences (CEGSS). The origins of CEGSS and the ISSS symposia date back to 1989, when the series of “Danube Chromatographic Symposia” was terminated but it was soon apparent that there was a need for separation scientists from Central Europe to meet and exchange knowledge and ideas.
