This Topic Collection is devoted to theoretical, experimental and computational investigations (or a combination of these) with regard to safety, maintenance and management of railway infrastructures and railway vehicles. Expected papers should cover various types of railway infrastructures such as bridges, viaducts, tunnels, transition zones, track (ballasted and non‑ballasted systems) and all type of railway vehicles. Other topics of the TC include, but not limited, the following research and application areas: vehicle‑infrastructure interaction, train-induced ground vibrations, geotechnical aspects (earthworks, embankments and stabilisation), reliability and runnability of railway infrastructure in strong winds and/or earthquake-prone areas, fracture and failure analysis of railway vehicle components, among others.
