Ultrasound in internal and emergency medicine

Ultrasound imaging has undergone a true transformation over the last 20 years. On the one hand, the miniaturization of devices has brought this tool to the patient's bedside, opening the clinician to the possibility of using ultrasound as a new pillar of the physical examination. On the other hand, technological evolution has made it possible to increase the diagnostic accuracy of ultrasound both through new ultrasound processing methods and using contrast medium. This topical collection of Internal and Emergency Medicine aims to alert the clinical and scientific community that operates in the world of ultrasound to share evidence on the use of this fundamental tool in all its applications. Key aspects dedicated to discussion will be Point of Care Ultrasound, use of advanced techniques, diagnosis, and monitoring, defining prognosis, guiding therapy and procedures, and other innovative aspects.
