This special collection welcomes research articles, perspectives, and data reports from all disciplines. Fundamental questions that can be addressed with observations from these recent Shishaldin eruptions include (but are not limited to) the causes and signals of explosive mafic volcanism, understanding transitions between effusive and explosive volcanism, geophysical or geochemical indicators of unrest and eruption in open-vent arc volcanoes, and processes associated with mafic eruption ash clouds.
All data used in papers should be included as supplementary information in submitted articles and/or be archived in a publicly accessible data repository. In addition, all submissions are encouraged to share their results and ideas with other authors through seminar presentations to be scheduled in Fall 2024 to encourage more collaborative and informed research.
If you are interested in submitting an article to this collection, please contact one of the guest editors with a one-paragraph summary of the topic you would like to cover, a working title, and a tentative author list by August 1, 2024. All submissions will need to be received for review by March 2025.
