This chapter is the introductory chapter which gives an overview of this book. I examine the significance of identities and life choices in the postmodern world and, through my personal journey, explain what this book is about and why it is written.

    Confucius believes in the perfectibility of all men by means of a lifelong commitment to the process of continuous self-cultivation (Luk-Fong, 2001).

    Cardinal relationships that refer to the five duties of universal obligations are those between sovereign and minister, between father and son, between husband and wife, between elder and younger brother and those belonging to the relations between friends (Luk-Fong, 2001).
