Abstract

In democratic countries worldwide, the need and urgency to develop education for democratic citizenship based on the rights and responsibilities of citizens are recognised. This education has to develop both the individuals’ awareness and understanding of citizens’ rights and responsibilities and the capacity to exercise them and respect those of others.
