Abstract
This chapter presents five potential scenarios for the EU based on the results flowing from the SWOT analysis. In these scenarios the EU functions as rhetorical leader, or as focused on protecting Fort Europe, or as technological leader, or as promoting the idea of the EU as a microcosm of the world. The fifth scenario deals with the situation in which the member states exert their power individually.
