Abstract
This contribution focuses on Л from an international law perspective. The first section provides some legal data, positions the Climate Change Convention within emerging international environmental law, and deals with the concept and meaning of Л. Section 2 refers to precedents and discusses which international law principles are at stake in an Л arrangement. As section’3 explains, various partners can be involved and a wide variety of legal instruments is available to record Л arrangements. Finally, section 4 addresses the important question of monitoring and enforcement mechanisms.
This chapter builds on Part I (‘Legal and Institutional Aspects’) of Kuik et al., 1994.
