On the Sign Character of the Representing Stratum in a Film as Work of Art

Abstract

The aim of this article is the formal description of the representing stratum of a film work. To begin with, we should point out that the relationship between the representing, registered and represented strata differs considerably from the relation between the representing and communicating strata. The first relation is directly based on a certain semantic relation, whereas the “semantization” of the second one is possible only in an indirect way.
