Abstract

Czeslaw Milosz, the 1980 Nobel-prize winner in literature, has said in an interview: “In my book ‘The Land of Ulro’ I compared what happened in the eighteenth century with taking the wrong subway train in New York. You can go in a wrong direction somewhere. You go very far and can’t get off. Maybe we’ve been on the wrong train.” (Milosz/ Gardeles, 1986)
