Syndynamical Analysis and Conclusions by Means of the Present Vegetation Status, of Earlier Records and of Repeated Studies on Permanent Plots

Abstract

Most important and most obvious syndynamical methods are comparative studies of the vegetation on areas settled by plants since periods of different length. The condition for such inductive studies is the knowledge of the number of years since the start of settlement of the successional initial stage. However, these numbers are not reliably detectable in most cases. Therefore, the following lists collect examples for situations and references, which offer possibilities of exact determinations of the numbers of years since the beginning of first settlement by plants (initial stages). But additional restrictions in many cases of known numbers of years concerned are disturbances of successional development since its start in a more or less uncontrollable way which exclude such areas for successfull syndynamical studies.
