Abstract

In the current world wide climate of rapid economic restructuring, choices for teachers are not clear. It might be argued that any historical era makes its claims as to its own specificity in terms of experiencing social change. Nevertheless it does seem clear that the conceptions of knowledge we hold are susceptible to some considerable challenge at present. David Harvey’s book, “The Condition of Postmodernity” offers an excellent broad based account of such changes. Similarly, Antony Giddens (1999) offers a lucid account of advancing globalisation in his book “Runaway World”.
