Abstract
The finite element method for rotors was first developed by Ruhl and Booker [29]. Nelson and McVaugh [16] extended this to include gyroscopic effects. The effects of axial torque were included by Zorzi and Nelson [37] and Nelson [15] gave rotor dynamics elements with the Timoshenko beam theory.
