Abstract
In this the first of several ‘mini-chapters’ featuring short vignettes that exemplify aspects of greening in the red zone, former Prime Minister of Haiti Michèle Duvivier Pierre-Louis describes attempts to create a forested park in the midst of Port-au-Prince. The Martissant neighborhood greening efforts were initiated to save the last wooded area of Port-au-Prince in a gang ridden neighborhood and were renewed after the devastating earthquake of 2010.
