Nell’ambito della letteratura di diverse scienze (Psicologia dello sviluppo, Psicologia clinica, Psicologia sociale, Psicoanalisi, Pedagogia), con il termine genitorialità e parenting si fa riferimento a un ampio costrutto riferito alle competenze di allevamento e cura per la crescita dei piccoli, che, a partire dagli inizi del XX secolo, ha assunto nel corso del tempo diverse dimensioni, a seconda del vertice di riferimento teorico considerato (Imbasciati, 2008).
