Riassunto
Comunemente le radiazioni ionizzanti sono percepite come un prodotto esclusivo dell’attività umana, perché associate a eventi catastrofici quali le esplosioni delle bombe atomiche e l’incidente del reattore di Chernobyl o all’uso in diagnosi e terapie mediche. Ma gli esseri viventi sono “naturalmente” e continuamente esposti a radiazioni la cui origine non dipende dall’uomo; anzi, sorgenti radioattive, sia pure in piccola quantit`a, sono componenti naturali dei tessuti del suo organismo.
