Abstract

To study a possible origin of the Galactic Ridge X-ray Emission, near-by magnetized white dwarf stars in binary systems are studied individually using Suzaku data. In the present thesis, 17 systems are studied in the 3–50 keV range. Thanks to nice energy resolution of the XIS, three characteristic emission lines from Fe in the 6–7 keV band were clearly resolved, and these lines helped to accurately fit the spectra using the spectral model constructed in Chap. 3. The best fit model gave a white dwarf mass estimate in each object ranging 0.4–1.3 times solar mass.
