Abstract
The aim of this study was to clarify the effects of sham feeding followed by feeding of food on postprandial gastric motility by using EGG. Postprandial EGG was monitored for 60 min. Each subject consumed the meal three times under fine chewing (FC), coarse chewing (CC), and coarse chewing preceded by gum chewing (CC + G) condition. The number of the time points when gastric motion was active was compared among the three conditions. In the middle and the last 20 min, the number was significantly greater in FC than in CC. Sham feeding before meal may help to enhance postprandial gastric motility.
