Zusammenfassung
Akademische Spin-offs sind wirtschaftlich selbständige Unternehmen, die von Mitarbeitern einer Forschungseinrichtung gegründet werden, um die dort entwickelten Technologien zu kommerzialisieren. Durch den Technologietransfer in die Wirtschaft leisten akademische Spin-offs einen bedeutenden Beitrag zum technologischen und ökonomischen Fortschritt einer Volkswirtschaft. Zur Realisierung dieser positiven Effekte muss es den Spin-offs gelingen, ihre Technologien in marktfähige Produkte umzuwandeln und sich in industrielle Wertschöpfungsketten zu integrieren. Dabei ist eine Zusammenarbeit mit externen Partnern unverzichtbar. Wertschaffende Geschäftsbeziehungen entstehen jedoch nicht von selbst und sind mit vielfältigen Risiken verbunden, die den Fortbestand des neu gegründeten Unternehmens gefährden. Doch schon die Anbahnung lohnender Kooperationen ist für akademische Spin-offs schwierig, da sie häufig nicht als attraktive Geschäftspartner wahrgenommen werden.
