Während nun ein Instrument zur Bestimmung geglätteter Reihenfolgen vorliegt, sind die Auswirkungen der geglätteten Reihenfolgen auf ein innerbetriebliches Produktions- und Logistiksystem noch wenig erforscht. In der Literatur wird zwar oftmals angeführt, dass geglättete Produktionspläne zu einer Beruhigung der Vorproduktabrufe führen, doch gibt es für diese Aussage kaum quantitative Nachweise.
