Polyamide [1] sind makromolekulare Verbindungen, die entweder in der Natur vorkommen können oder auf synthetischem Weg hergestellt werden. In der Natur vorkommende Polyamide sind z. B. die Proteine, die aus Aminosäuren aufgebaut sind und in Kap. 3 behandelt werden. Polyamide besitzen das in Bild 292 gezeigte Strukturinkrement, die Amid-Bindung. In diesem Kapitel werden Polyamid-Biokunststoffe dargestellt.
