Abstract
Austria’s space-related activities have a long history. The following subchapter sums up the activities from the 16th century to the end of the 1980s, when the basic principles of Austria’s future space activities were laid out.1 The history of the Austria’s space activities during the 1990s up to today is characterised by an additional upturn of scientific/technological and other activities in the field that are still ongoing and no definite historical judgement can be made yet.
