Zusammenfassung
Wie gelingt es einem Tennisspieler, die Flugrichtung des gegnerischen Balles vorherzusehen, obwohl sich der Ball mit einer Geschwindigkeit von ca. 190 km/h auf ihn zu bewegt? Wohin schaut ein Badmintonexperte während des Spiels? Stimmt es, dass Sport sich positiv auf schulische Leistungen auswirkt? Fragen wie diese stehen im Mittelpunkt der (sport-)psychologischen Kognitionsforschung – der Forschung, die sich u. a. mit Prozessen der Wahrnehmung, der Aufmerksamkeit, des Gedächtnisses und des Denkens beschäftigt. Dieses Kapitel gibt zunächst eine kurze Einführung in die Kognitionspsychologie. Im Anschluss erfolgt eine Konzentration auf die in der Sportpsychologie am häufigsten untersuchten kognitiven Prozesse: Wahrnehmung und Aufmerksamkeit. Bei der Wahrnehmung steht hierbei die visuelle Wahrnehmung im Vordergrund. In Bezug auf die Aufmerksamkeit erfolgt die Darstellung von vier Subprozessen: Aufmerksamkeitsorientierung, selektive Aufmerksamkeit, geteilte Aufmerksamkeit und Konzentration. Zusätzlich wird der Aufmerksamkeitsfokus (internal vs. external) betrachtet. Schließlich gibt das Kapitel einen Überblick über den empirischen Forschungsstand.
