Abstract
Corneal xanthomas appear in association with generalized juvenile xanthogranuloma, with disseminated xanthoma, and with generalized histiocystosis. In the patient with normal cholesterol levels, the process consists of histiocytic proliferation and lipid accumulation. The role of radiotherapy as an integral part of therapy has been described, but its benefit has not been established. Risks are related to dose and dose-distribution. Gain is ill-defined. The review by Liebman et al., 1966, will prove helpful prior to any consideration of therapy. We find no evidence for the basis of orthovoltage radiation, but strontium90 application may be of value in preventing progression.
