Zusammenfassung
Die zahlreichen Studien zur empirischen Validierung des Capital-Asset-Pricing-Models (CAPM) führten zu widersprüchlichen Resultaten bezüglich der Gültigkeit dieses wichtigsten Kapitalmarktmodells. Einer der Hauptgründe dafür dürfte in den gravierenden Problemen bei der Anwendung der vorgeschlagenen statistischen Testverfahren liegen. Diese Probleme werden im vorliegenden Beitrag diskutiert. Dabei werden sowohl die traditionelle zweistufige Testmethodik als auch neuere „ multivariate“Tests betrachtet. Ein Hauptakzent liegt in der Umsetzung des in den nicht beobachtbaren Verteilungsparametern formulierten CAPM in ein statistisch-ökonometrisches Modell mit empirisch beobachtbaren Größen. Es zeigt sich, daß das sich ergebende Regressionsmodell nicht die gewünschten Eigenschaften aufweist, insbesondere wenn ein Aktienindex als Surrogat für das empirisch nicht beobachtbare Marktportefeuille verwendet werden muß. Die auftretenden Probleme werden in einem künstlich generierten Kapitalmarkt, in dem das CAPM Gültigkeit besitzt, anband umfangreicher Simulationsstudien illustriert. Die Resultate lassen an der Eignung der Tests zur empirischen Gültigkeitsprüfung des CAPM starke Zweifel aufkommen.
