Licht ist eine elektromagnetische Welle, die sich von den Wellen der Hochfrequenztechnik nur durch die höhere Frequenz v und die kürzere Wellenlänge λ unterscheidet. In beiden Fällen wird das Feld charakterisiert durch

die elektrische Feldstärke E (V/m)

die magnetische Feldstärke H (A/m)

den Wellenvektor k = 2π/λ e
