Abstract

Technique in any discipline is the acting out of the thinking process. It does not exist isolated from the stream of the general care of a patient with lung cancer; it is not an end in itself. It is a means to an end, either the creation of conditions that will allow for a cure of the patient or the palliation of his symptoms if cure is precluded by the extent of his disease.
