Part of the book series: Recent Results in Cancer Research ((RECENTCANCER,volume 82))

Abstract

The increased frequency of pulmonary cancer in uranium miners is well established and has been attributed to the irradiation of the tracheobronchial epithelium by alpha radiation [1].

Supported by the Institute of Occupational and Environmental Health, Quebec Asbestos Mining Association, and by the Ministère des Affaires Sociales du Québec

We wish to thank Mr. Willie Coulter for his programming assistance and Miss Line Bernier for the typing of the manuscript. The authors are also greatly indebted to Dr. Richard Lambert, Head of the Industrial Clinic of Thetford-Mines, and to many union and company representatives for their help and cooperation
