Abstract
Since 1973, when development of the new implants began, experimental testing of the implants has been paralleled by their clinical application at the Departments of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery of Kantonsspital Basel (Head: Prof. Dr. B. Spiessl) until 1977 and of Inselspital Bern (Head: Prof. Dr. H. Tschopp) since 1978. Our clinical material is based on a follow-up of 21 consecutive cases that were operated upon between 1978 and 1982 (Inselspital Bern).
