Abstract
Congenital severe combined immunodeficiency diseases (SCID) are relatively heterogeneous conditions with a spontaneously fatal outcome due to infections, usually before 1 year of age. Patients with SCID can be completely cured by bone marrow transplantation (BMT), especially from a genotypically identical donor (Gatti et al. 1968; de Koning et al. 1969; Bortin and Rimm 1977).
