Abstract
In the construction of models and of corresponding decision procedures the general development of statistics tends, for compelling reasons, to avoid strong non-verifiable assumptions by considering all information at hand. The methodology of c-optimal decisions, including the theory of Linear Partial Information, suggests an approach fully sufficient to meet this requirement. C-optimality starts from the insight that in reality it is never of importance to reach an optimum exactly, rather a given accuracy c suffices.
In non-parametric as well as in parametric situations, c-optimal decision functions have optimality properties for finite sample size, including admissibility. Asymptotic optimality holds without any restriction on the set of decision functions, in contrast to the “classical” and to other approaches
