Abstract
For the design and the construction of sea defences in the shallow waters along the Dutch coast probabilistic methods are used to obtain loading conditions for extreme circumstances (design) and to estimate the time available for specific operations during the construction. The formal base of the method consists of the joint probability density function of the relevant parameters.
