Zusammenfassung
Petrothermale Reservoirs machen den weitaus größten Teil aller geothermalen Lagerstätten weltweit aus. Sie können in sehr unterschiedliche geologischen Formationen im kristallinen Basement, in sedimentären Becken und in Orogenzonen vorkommen. Gebunden an hydraulisch dichte, kristalline und sedimentäre Speichergesteine überwiegt dort der konduktive gegenüber dem konvektiven Wärmeübertragungsanteil. Seit 40 Jahren wurden an verschiedenen Standorten weltweit unterschiedliche Erschließungskonzepte mit zunehmender Tiefe realisiert. Als Stimulationsverfahren dienten dabei hydraulische, chemische und Stützmittel‐gebundene Technologien. Die Frack‐Operationen und die dazu verwendeten Einsatzstoffe bei den EGS‐Projekten in Soultz‐sous‐Forets, Groß‐Schönebeck und GeneSys, sowie zum hydrothermalen EGS‐Projekt in Landau werden quantifiziert. Druckwasser war dabei stets der Hauptträger des Stimulationsprozesses; daneben können Hilfschemikalien zum Einsatz kommen. Hierzu erfolgt eine Analyse der Umweltverträglichkeit, eine Abgrenzung zum Erdgasfracking und zur gesellschaftlichen Akzeptanz des Verfahrens.
