Abstract

The powerful carcinogenic action of 4-nitroquinoline 1-oxide was first demon-strated by Nakahara, Fukuoka and Sugimura in 1957. Since then more than 60 reports have been presented on the carcinogenic action of this compound and its derivatives, details of which are summarized in Table 1.
