Abstract
In this paper we propose an approach for the experimental analysis of the classical problem of the Tragedy of the Commons. This approach revolves around norms within multi-agent systems, without regimenting them. The proposed model allows norms to emerge between selfish agents that compete for the same resource. The paper shows how the emerging norms lead to a balanced distribution of resources among the individuals, diminishing the effects of the tragedy.
