Abstract
The tea plant, Camellia sinensis (L.) O. Kuntze, originated in the southwestern part of China, and has been cultivated there for approximately 5,000 years. Now tea plants are cultivated in 52 countries around the world. More than one-half of the population of the world consumes tea. The daily consumption of tea is approximately 3 billion cups all over the world. Tea, coffee and cocoa are the three most popular non-alcoholic beverages in the world.
