Abstract
The old advice “never touch a running system” can’t be followed anymore in cloud environments built with the intention to enable fast change. Practical experience shows that insufficiently prepared changes are the main cause of malfunction. Therefore, change management has particular significance as a central quality assurance instrument in the context of cloud management.
In the cloud, the change and configuration management processes necessary for SAP include not only multiple logical systems working in concert, but also new cloud constructs and specific technology and organizational factors. Combined, these elements work together to create and enable the SAP-on-cloud system lifecycle.
