Abstract
Portuguese is the third most spoken European language in the world, with around 220 million speakers, of which 200 million are native speakers, spread over four continents: Africa, America, Asia and Europe. It is the official language of Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, East Timor, Guinea-Bissau, Macau, Mozambique, Portugal, S. Tome and Principe, and since 2010, of Equatorial Guinea.
