Zusammenfassung

Der aktuelle Stand des Wissens über die Kombinationsbehandlung von EKT mit Psychopharmaka in Akut- und Erhaltungsphase, und als Augmentationsstrategie wird zusammengefasst. In der Literatur finden sich relativ wenige schwere Nebenwirkungen unter dieser Kombinationsbehandlung, die meist bei hohen Medikamentendosen oder älteren und multimorbiden Patienten beobachtet wurden. Insbesondere für die Kombination von EKT mit Antidepressiva, Lithium oder Antipsychotika gibt es positive Argumente, die das Behandlungsergebnis und die Rückfallprophylaxe deutlich verbessern. Bei den Begleittherapien spielt besonders die Psychotherapie eine große Rolle und senkt das Rezidivrisiko nach einer EKT-Behandlung. Störungsspezifische Psychotherapie ist dringend zu empfehlen und sollte bereits in der Indexserie der EKT beginnen und in der Erhaltungsphase fortgesetzt werden. Eine Kombination von EKT mit anderen biologischen Verfahren und experimentellen Stimulationsverfahren kann zur Zeit nicht empfohlen werden.
