Abstract
The FeS solid lubrication layer prepared by low temperature ion sulfuration technique has been described in Chapters 2 and 3. Although its tribological properties are excellent, the applications are subject to a certain limitation due to the disadvantages of ion sulfuration technology. The costs of ion sulfuration are relatively high; meanwhile, the process must be completed in the vacuum chamber of a certain size, in other words, it can only deal with some smaller and easily transported parts, such as cylinder piston rings, nozzles, pistons, and roller bearings, etc. In order to extend the application of solid lubrication layer, it is very necessary to develop new processes for preparing low-cost FeS layers. In this chapter, other methods for preparing FeS coatings will be introduced.
