Dupuytren’s Disease and Occupation

  • Chapter
  • First Online:

Abstract

The possible association between occupation and Dupuytren’s disease has been debated since the disorder was first described. The history of opinions regarding this association is given along with a review of the literature and discussion of the evidence for a causal relationship. There is evidence that high cumulative exposure to physical force and/or vibrations transmitted to the upper limbs could cause or significantly aggravate Dupuytren’s disease.
