Zusammenfassung

In den letzten Jahren gab es eine Vielzahl von neuen Erkenntnissen zur Pathogenese des Glaukoms. Robert W. Nickells hat in einer Übersichtsarbeit, die 2007 im Canadian Journal of Ophthalmology publiziert wurde, Erkenntnisse aus aktuellen Publikationen zusammengetragen, um den Krankheitsverlauf des Glaukoms zu veranschaulichen. Das sog. Glaukom-5-Stufen-Modell wird im Folgenden vorgestellt. Basierend auf den Erkenntnissen wird dargestellt, zu welchem Zeitpunkt welche diagnostische Untersuchung am sinnvollsten erscheint (◘ Tabelle 1.1).
